Roxy ist ein traditioneller Name für eine Kino, kann aber auch die Abkürzung für den weiblichen Vornamen Roxanne sein. Das Buch lässt bewusst beide Interpretationen zu. Kerstin Hehmann hat Filmemacher, Kollegen und Freunde gebeten, sie im Kino fotografieren zu dürfen. Dabei habe sie gemerkt, dass die Fotografierten sie nach einer kurzen Zeit vergaßen und vom Kinofilm in den Bann gezogen wurden. Die Geschehnisse im Film bilden sich auf den Gesichtern der Zuschauer ab. Lichtstimmungen vom Film finden sich im Kinosaal wieder. Fiktion und Realität können verschmelzen.
Das Buch ist aufgebaut, wie ein Film. Es gibt einen Vorspann "was bisher geschah" und einen Abspann inklusivem fiktiven Filmproduktions-Logo. Beim Blättern im Buch fallen schwarze Seiten, die mit Lackschrift bedruckt sind auf. Sie dienen als eine Tonebene.

"One last puff, Roxy blows smoke out loudly and upwards, pushing the cigarette in to the ashtray. Swelling over again; I could empty it, she thinks. But it is late, and in an hour the first guests will arrive in the cinema. She puts her jacket on and takes the umbrella, with a little luck she`ll take it back home tonight. It`s drizzling, and it`s cold too: during the festival the city reveals its inhospitable side again. As if it doesn't want to have any guests." Extract from the book: Ralf Döring

Roxy is a traditional name for a cinema but it can also be the short version of the female name Roxanne. The book purposely leaves room for both interpretations. Kerstin Hehmann asked filmmakers, colleagues and friends to let themselves be photographed in the cinema. She soon noticed that her subjects quickly forgot about her presence as they became entranced by the film. The events in the film are reflected on the faces of the viewers. The lighting atmosphere from the film reverberates in the room. Fiction and reality can merge.
The book itself is structured like a film. There is a prologue "previously on…" and an epilogue of credits, including a fictive production company logo. Leafing through the book, black pages with raised, varnished writing can be found, which function as the sound. Selection from more than 30 photographs.
